About Marillionados and Afishionados

Marillionados and Afishionados are two semi-organisations i am running, dedicated to seing Marillion and Fish (respectively) live on stage in places nearby. I can't really call them fan clubs, because we're not really that official at all, i call them Fan Networks.

Hi-flying rumours, however, have been heard about officializing us to a real fan club, as there isn't any one such here in Finland, but then, you shouldn't trust everything you read on the Net :)

About me and these pages

You are now at www.tf.hut.fi, which is in a machine situated in the swedish-speaking student union Teknologföreningen at Helsinki University of Technology, Finland. (*Shiver!*)

The Nados pages moved to www.tf.hut.fi friday the 21-Oct-1994 at a quarter past eleven, pm. This is the site where these pages will live and (hopefully) grow. The *Nados pages have been around since 1994 (early '94, hell, possibly since 1993!) which makes them the oldest Marillion/Fish www-pages alive!

My name is Robin llaurén Laurén. I've been a fan of Marillion since Clutching came out, when i borrowed Misplaced from a friend [sic est]. I have known of Marillion since 1985, but i never really tried to get my hands on any material before 1987.

These pages probably look best when read with a fresh copy of Netscape Navigator. However, i don't use that much of Netscape-only magickery, and these pages should be readable with just about any current browser. All pages are formatted with CSS1-stylesheets. Cascading style sheets (CSS1) are supported by at least Microsoft's Internet Exploder 4, Netscape's Navigator 4 a fresh Arena and the Gnuscape Navigator. You will need a frames-capable browser, though, since i've been too lazy to make a non-frames representation of this site. And watch out for the up-and-coming all-singing all-dancing ultra-funky dynamic *nados site, up real soon now. Lynx people will hate me :(

Stats and stuff

Useless trivia statistic: there were 186 requests to the *Nados pages in December 1994, and it's been growing ever since. January 1995: 2056, February: 4010, March (24.3): 3725. And now we're up at 36000 hits on the home page, and some 25000 hits on the old Netscape Enhanced home page. Since that one was auto-loaded from the original and plain vanilla home page, one may guess that *Nados has had about 45000 hits. Pretty cool. And these numbers do not include my own requests, when updating the pages :)

Here are the full statistics of the *Nados pages.

A Brief History (of time)

Afishionados was born in 1991 or something, when Fish was about to come over to our neighbouring country, Sweden, to play on the Vigil tour. I knew a few friends that might be interested to join me to see the obscure scottish poet play, and so Afisionados Finland was born. We were a baffling five members.

The next time we went to Sweden (that was the closest Fish had ever gotten to Finland, at that time -- until..) was on the Internal Exile tour. This time Afishionados had grown to more than the double. I think there were nine of us.

Marillionados was born much later, actually in the spring of 1994, when i first heard that Marillion will be doing a Brave tour. First we were going to Sweden (again), but this time it was going to be different. The local EMI had actually done something good -- they would bring Marillion to Finland!

Marillionados grew past the size of Afishionados in no time, thanks to the Net. A lot of the Marillionados-members were recruited through the Freaks mailinglist (at that time freaks@bnf.com but these days freaks@ax.com - contact freaks-request@ax.com for details.) and the newsgroup alt.music.marillion. All in all, we were fifteen Marillionados on that gig, which, of course, was great!

Along comes the Sunsets on Empire tour (fall of 1997), and Afishionados grew a little. Now there are members, it seems. Before the Helsinki gig, about twenty Afishionados (along with two people from Latvia!) had a meet 'n greet with the Big Guy!
